Chemical Peel Pre-Treatment

So You're Getting a VI Peel — Here's How to Prep Like a Pro

You booked the peel. You're ready to glow. But before the shedding begins and the compliments roll in, let’s make sure your skin is prepped for greatness.

Because here’s the deal: what you do before your VI Peel is just as important as the peel itself. This is your pre-game glow guide — no fluff, no medical lecture, just the real-deal prep for real-deal results.

💧 One Week Before: Hydrate, Don’t Exfoliate

Your skin is about to go through a transformation, so now’s the time to treat it like the fragile goddess she is.

✅ DO:

  • Drink water. Like… real water. Not sparkling, not iced oat milk lattes. Aim for 3 glasses a day, minimum. More = better. If you think you’re drinking enough water, you’re not. If you think you’re drinking too much water, that’s the right amount of water.

  • Moisturize daily with a gentle, non-active moisturizer. The glow starts with hydration.

  • Treat your skin gently. That means ditch the gritty scrubs and aggressive actives (they’ll still be there after your glow-up).

❌ DON’T:

  • No tanning, sunbathing, or surprise sunburns — for at least 7 days pre-peel.

  • No waxing, threading, or hair removal near your treatment area within 5–7 days.

  • No other skin treatments (facials, lasers, microneedling, etc.) unless we’ve given you the green light.

🛑 24–48 Hours Before: Slow Your Roll

This is your “less is more” window. We’re talking skin minimalism.

  • Pause the actives. Stop using Retin-A, retinol, AHAs/BHAs, acne meds, and exfoliating anything.

  • No shaving the treatment area the day of. If you must, do it at least 24 hours before.

  • Cold sore prone? Let us know. We might recommend a quick antiviral script to prevent flare-ups post-peel.

📅 The Day Of: Come Barefaced and Ready

We love your makeup skills — but today’s not the day.

  • Show up clean-faced. No makeup, SPF, moisturizer, or skincare. Think of it as giving your skin a blank canvas for brilliance.

  • Wear comfy clothes. Skip anything tight near your face or neck. Your skin wants freedom.

  • We’ll hook you up. You’ll leave with a full post-peel kit and instructions, so no need to bring anything but yourself.

🧠 Quick Reality Check

  • Peeling usually starts around day 3 and can last up to a week. It's normal. It’s a good thing. But it’s also… a little flaky. So plan accordingly.

  • Reschedule any important photoshoots, big dates, or job interviews unless you’re cool showing up like a shedding butterfly.

  • Already out of moisturizer or SPF? Stock up at your appointment. You’ll need it.

💬 FAQ

How long does the peel take?
About 15 minutes. Roughly the time it takes to scroll TikTok and suddenly wonder what year it is.

Does it hurt? “Chemical peel” sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie.
Totally fair. But no, this peel is drama-free. One of the ingredients, phenol, has a light numbing effect. You might feel a little tingle, but it’s more "sparkly champagne" than "acid attack."

Downtime? Or can I brunch right after?
You’ll start peeling like a croissant around days 3 to 5. Some people flake like an ex, others just glow quietly. Nothing a hat, SPF, and a little moisturizer can’t smooth over.

Can I work out?
Yes, but keep it chill. Think Pilates, walking, or doing laundry very aggressively. Skip sweaty workouts until peeling starts. Once you peel, you can sweat again, but your skin might be a little redder. SPF is your new workout buddy.

When can I wear makeup again?
You’re cleared for light makeup after 4 hours. Once the peeling starts, makeup won’t sit quite right. Full glam returns by day 6 or 7 when your skin stops shedding like a lizard in spring.

How many peels do I need?
It depends on your goals. One session is great. Three is transformational. One peel refreshes. Three peels correct and conquer.

Pro tip: One to glow, three to go.

What will I look like right after?
Glowy with a slight tan or orange hue. Not Oompa Loompa. You’ll be totally fine to run errands or go about your day. People might think you just got back from vacation. Let them.

What’s with the night-one itchies?
You might feel itchy like you hugged a wool sweater in August. Totally normal. Use the Post-Treatment Repair Cream like it’s your job and maybe take a little antihistamine. Whatever you do, do not scratch. Seriously.

Other Hot Questions (Literally)

Sun exposure. How serious are we?
Very. The sun is not your friend this week. Avoid direct rays for 7 days. That means hats, SPF, and shade like you’re dodging an awkward conversation. Daily errands are fine if you’re protected. Just don’t treat this like beach week.

Is it safe for darker skin?
Yes. All skin tones are welcome here. VI Peel was created with all skin in mind, especially skin with more melanin magic. No weird side effects. No bleaching. Just results.

What skincare should I use at home?
Put your normal routine on pause and use the products in your VI Peel kit. If you need more, grab a gentle cleanser like CeraVe or Cetaphil. You can go back to your regular routine around day 7 or 8 once your skin is done peeling and behaving again.
